Pharmacology at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. He has been fortunate to train at institutions that include Johns Hopkins University, Dartmouth Medical School, and Duke University Medical Center. He is board certified in Anatomic Pathology. He recently completed a sabbatical at the University of Padua (Italy) in the Department of Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Sciences. For the past 27 years, Dr. Lomasney has interpreted all cardiovascular specimens for Northwestern Medicine. He directed the Autopsy Service at Northwestern Memorial Hospital for 15 years, and continues to perform autopsies and serves as a cardiovascular consultant for a number of Chicago area Medical Examiners, including the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, the second largest ME in the country. Dr. Lomasney’s clinical interests include cardiac transplantation and causes of sudden cardiac death in the young. The author of over 60 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Lomasney’s research focuses on use of nanotechnology to enhance cardiac repair, as well as elucidating general paradigms of signal transduction, especially those of bioactive lipids. His research has received support from the American Heart Association and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the NIH.
